Carbs

Bah. Frustrating day. After 2 hours of huffing fumes and scrubbing the carbs, I got them all back together with new jets and gaskets. Then I went to hook them up. They fit on the intakes and the throttle cable hooket up okay. Now previosly, I had been running without a choke and had blocked off the holes. Now I figgered I would hook up the chokes since my new controls had a handlebar choke lever. I have been told that this is an optimal solution for these beasts because the choke can be used as a mixture control for climbing mountains and such. After another 2 hours of trying to mate everything up with the 1-2 splitter (fiddly pain in the ass because there are at least 4 ways to approach the problem and only one way to do it successfully) I discovered that once it is all done, the choke is stuck full on and the lever can only be moved about 1/4". Eh? after a bunch more farting about I discover that once the handlebar cable is rigged, it only has that short bit of movement left which means the choke is always on. feh. looks like the wrong cable to me. dammit. Now it is 4:30 and I am beat. 80 degrees in the shop takes it out of you. Now it is time for a beer, a shower and a nap.
