Been a while

Hey it's been a while. How y'all doing?

*chirp* *chirp*

Yeah I know. This is just for me and there aint a lot of people rolling in here. No sweat. Just give me more freedom to throw my thoughts around.

Speaking of which..this is something I have been meaning to do for a while:

An Open Letter to All Current Elected Officials and Their Respective Appointed Officials

Dear Sirs and Madams,

YOU ARE FIRED.

That's right Fired. Done. Finito. Pick up your last check on the way out the door. Security will be along to escort you and your coffee cup out.

One thing I take great pride in is that I have exercised my civic duty without fail and have voted in every election or vote that I have been eligible for since I turned 18. I am now 41. That's a lot of voting. Not as much as some....but a lot nonetheless.

For the last several years and in this last two years in particular every single one of you elected folks have failed miserably to represent me. You have failed on every single aspect of your duties. You have eroded my individual rights. You have sold my country and people to the highest corporate bidder. You have caved in to personal and special interests. You have been caught red-handed in lies, bribery and thievery. This is on every single level from the highest executive branch on down to the most granular local level.

You have allowed corporate interests libel and slander me as a criminal for wanting to access content that I have paid for. You have allowed those same corporate interests dictate technological advances (free market my ass).

You have paid mere lip service to identity theft statistics rising at ballistic rates. You wring your hands about how awful it is and yet do absolutely nothing about it except to place the onus of repair onto me, the consumer, when it is the companies who hold that information in trust who are failing to keep it adequately secure. Not one of you has had the stones to stand up and make those companies assume the costs of allowing thieves to access that data. Then you bar me from managing that data by removing it from companies I no longer do business with. A simple mistake on a credit report takes *years* to repair.

You have demonstrated time after time that you feel you are elected to enhance, protect and serve the largest corporations with the deepest pockets. You have consitently supported efforts to pick my pockets, prevent me from redressing wrongs and stifle innovation. You have forgotten who The People are.

When faced with a tough situation you have, without fail, chosen to take the easy way out rather than accept the tough responsibility that goes with your office. Many of these tough issues have very simple common sense solutions, but because the simple solution may be unpopular, difficult or may cost you a re-election...you opt for cowardice. If that fails and you can't seem to shake the tough issue, you opt to raise a non-issue to cloud the scenery. Just like my son does when he is caught being naughty. And just like I do with him...I wont let you get away with it. Kids and video games? gay marriage? C'mon, that stuff is supposedly beneath you.

This might sound like I am focused on the national folks....dont think you locals have escaped my attention. You sad sacks of shit are twice as bad. Online gambling illegal? Whats this penny ante crap? You think I wasnt going to notice that the major sponsors of the bill (now law) were the local tribal gaming companies? And you have the bare faced balls to claim some sort of moral victory?

When I was growing up there were two words that were drop-the-books-and-start-swinging-words:

Coward and Liar.

You lot are both.

This is why I will not vote for any single incumbent come the next series of votes. Not a one. I dont care what party you hail from; Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or even Bob's Bingo and Anarchy Party. You aint getting my vote. In fact, I will ot vote for anyone that has had any previous political experience. If I even detect a hint of conflicted interest, you are marked off. I'm looking at *you* mister insurance commissioner.

I have had it. We have all had it.

Sincerely
A. Citizen
