C-to-C

If things go as planned, next spring or fall I will be taking a long anticipated and leisurely ride from sea to shining sea. Far too much of this country has passed beneath the wings of a jet as I sit above the clouds.

Some things I want to see and do:

Piss in the Mississipi - how can you not?

Follow the Highway 61 between Chicago and the delta. Massive gods of american music have travelled that road for a century.

Drink cold beer in a hot and humid roadhouse listening to the deep south blues

Drift through the industrial wastelands of the rust belt

Sit and watch the descendants of moonshiners race on muddy tracks in beater cars. A taste of stock car racing from the days when it was something interesting

What else? more as it comes to me

If you're starting/ending far enough south (It doesn't sound like it, tho), we could do a meal before you leave. I'm in FL. :)

CaptSlaq, it would be a pleasure. I would love to do the 4 corners which would include key west. That would bring me a within a quick jaunt no matter where you might be in FL

Zerhackerman..
I'd reccomend the old dirt track in Brasstown, NC.. so close to the heart of moonshine country you can get drunk off the morning fog.

and come on back north thru the Old Dominion.. I ain't got no Rainier, but I owe you a few cold ones from last time.

You gotta make the Talimena Drive between Talihana OK and Mena AR. Best kept secret of the land.

Also recommend Hwy 141 in Colorado.

I can tell you like isolation and desolation. Both these roads are treats.
